Default Down loading Apache

Hi All

Hope you can help.
I want to download Apache but there are loads of files to chose from. Which do I download?

I want to run PHP Apache and Mysql. I have Windows XP Professional. I want the final site to run on a Linux server.

I had been using Beginning Dreamweaver MX 2004 and have set up my machine accordingly.

Do I have to disable anything to use PHP Apache and Mysql.

Looking forward to hearing from someone.

I simply downloaded Xampp from http://www.apachefriends.org/en/ and was completely install & setup with AMP on my win box in 15 minutes :) Running win XP Pro I didn't have to alter anything... just start a couple new services.

While some complain of the nature of open source, it's true strength is available selections. Some choices are ready for prime time :)

Are we having fun yet?

Hi Peccavi

I should have thanked you earlier. Thanks for your time. I got it down and working but I did not know enough about the basics so have gone for simpler building blocks. But thanks for the time and help.

All the best
