Default Eight chapter - very strange things happening

I'm having problems with all examples working with sessions and cookies. I downloaded source code from wrox which works!? And when I launch the code I wrote (which is the same as the wrox's) I get a message: Warning: session_register(): Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\page_count.php:3) in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\page_count.php on line 4

The only difference between my code and authors' is obvious viewing in Notepad - theirs code has some inreconizable chars.

Got any idea?

Look for output before the call to session_start, including whitespace before the opening <?php delimiter.

You were right, Rich! Thanks.
I didn't expect the white space to be interpreted as header lines!
I learn smt new every day:)
