Default Required files help please

Whats up,

Just got my copy of Begining PHP 4, read the first 25 pages and I'm stuck. The book says to go to http://php4win.de and d/l a zip with extra files that aren't part of the basic php 4 release, well the site is in Hibernation. Can anyone tell me where I can get a copy of that zip or tell me the files I'm going to need? Also, I'm going to run php on a linux, are the files I'm going to need for that too? Just asking a head of time, would hate to really start getting into the book and be stuck. Your help is appreaciated.

Thanks

Hi dude,

I suppose that if you are installing PHP on a Linux Box you can just forget this file, because it's a better release for MicroZoft OS...

FYI: I've installed the "basic" PHP 4.2.3 dist on IIS (w2k), and I don't have got major problem to read through out the book. (I didn't read the §16 Generating Graphics...)

However this "basic" PHP 4.2.3 for MS OS distribution it's obviously not for production servers (as they tell in the readme file). I've experienced some non-reproductible very funny errors when this dll is interpreting my pages!

PS.: after just only 25 little pages, were you so tired that you didn't noticed the BIG Title on page 24 saying : Installing PHP4 Alongside IIS ????

Snore,snore

Ya got me there, was getting kinda tired by the time I got to reading, not enought caffine. I stopped reading at the top of page 25 ". . . .unfortunately the version of PHP distributed by that site . . . .doesn't support all the features we need". I was thinking stop don't go any futher, you'll be working on a piece of code, it doesn't work, and you can't figure out why, etc. Just didn't want to get half way through something and get stuck.

Who knows, maybe I'll even complete a whole chapter before I post asking for help !!! :D

Thanks

Just thought I'd let you know that so far this works fine on both linux and OS X. I'm having trouble with one of the programs in Chapter Four, but that's another post...:D
