Default chapter 12/register/user_login

I can't register a new user, I have gone over everything and even downloaded the code from this site for register, it is different form the book but I still get a message after registering that says "Data too long for column 'password' at row 1" can anyone lead me in the right direction, also i can't login, it just keeps sending me back to the login page? does it have anything to do with sessions in my php.ini, do I need to setup something in there? my book tells me it is better to use sessions instead of cookies, someone please help

Ok I solved my own problem, I change the char length in my database for field password to 20, not knowing that the passwords saved in that field would be encripted, so the length would very, I changed it to 255 and now everything works just fine.

I also solved my login problem, I was still using the login.php which had the username and password hard coded, after I made the user_login.php it solved my problem. I was just working faster than I was reading. I hope my problems may have helped someone else answer theirs
