I have just begun my Programming Lessons on "Beginning Programming".

I wonder why the book advices to use Notepad Or Ultraedit with Boreland compiler.
I believe the Turbo C++ IDE is much simpler to use when compiling/running and debugging.
I find the process explained in the book a bit cumbersome..like typing code in the ultraedit and then using the command prompt to compile it....

Have I missed anything or is my understanding correct...because if the Turbo C++ IDE is avaliable then why would anyone use the long way explained in the book.....

I want to complement the writers(Adrian and Kathie). They have really made the subject very easy and lively to understand.

This thread has the potential to be handy, but the links for the initial compiling error this thread talks about no longer works.

From the information found here, you need to change a setting to make the compiler work, but is there instructions for vista? All I see is xp how to's and the such.

Can anyone help me out on how to successfully compile the file for chapter 7 with vista?
