I suggest and like the books that Adobe publishes you can find them in most bookstores and on the Adobe.com site. They go through basics of using actionscript and very good to learn with.

www.friendsofed.com has a series of good books. I have the Foundation Actionscript Animation.

Beginning Actionscript 2.0 by Derksen and Berg right here on the Wrox site is a great book too. I buy most of my books at Amazon.com. Pretty good savings for the amount of money I spend on manuals.
