Default The created external list does not support updating existing items

Chapter 8

I can create external content type from my wcf service's entites but when I create a list I get this message from SharePoint Designer:

The created external list does not support updating existing items

I have added Read item, Read list and Update operations. Read item and Read list works.

I don't know where the problem is.

Anybody knows?

Thanks in advance,

Treffe

Have you checked to see the credentials you're using are good for both the Sharepoint server as well as SQL Server? Also, did the web testing service work for the update, or is that where you're getting the error?

The web testing service for the update works. It is when I am creating the list in Sharepoint Designer i get the message.

OK, so this is happening when you add the Service Connection operations - are you having problems mapping the elements? Also, did you set All Authenticated Users to the object permissions?

Thank u for taking your time.

Yes, All Authenticated Users is set. I think all mapping is fine. I will check again.

Its probably the wcf connection - you may want to rebuild it. Also keep in mind that if you've made an error in a web address, you need to change the generated code - making modifications to the wcf URLs won't change code that's been generated automatically.
