Default chapter10: reference not set...

upon running code in chap 10 I received a system
exception error. You know the one "reference not set to
an instance of an object". this particular error seems
to create a lot of problems for others to. I've
read the responses to others on this error, but
I can't seem to solve the problem. If anyone replies
to this, I'm sorry but you will have to talk to me
like I'm in the second grade, as I am new to this
and it's all greek to me.
I'm using vs.net 2003.

thanks in advance.

I got the program to run without the reference to
object error popping up, but now I get a message box
that says "SQL server does not exist or access
denied.
I know the server and database exist and I can gain
access to them both because I've successfully tested
the conection via the Data Link Properties window.
I'm using MSDE and running the code for SQL Server
with Integrated Security (page 273), as the connection
test ran successfully with Item #2 of the connection
page ('Use Windows NT Integrated Security')
of the Data Link Properties window checked.

help me please.
