Default Chapter 8

I am using Visual Basic 2005 Express and SQL Server express on a Windows XP machine.
I cant seem to get the DB Migration Utility to connect to my SQL Server express I think I need to use Windows login but either way I cant seem to get it to work.

Also due to the above situation I wrote a program using the info from this book up to this part of the book using Access XP as my Data base I then installed the program to another XP Machine with no problems. I then tried to install to a Win 2000 Machine. I do have Admin privilages on this box but no luck finding the Data base. Any ideas. the Win200 has Access 2003 on it.
Thanks for any help on eithr of the above.

Have you tried setting up a dataconnection in Visual Studio to your SQL Server Express? Also, as far as Windows 2000 goes, I'm not sure what the requirements are for running Visual Basic 2005 on that machine. You'll need to check the Microsoft web site for those specific requirements.

I Think I Have a dataconnection in Visual Studio to SQL Server Express. I can access other databases from withen the program. How do I check for sure and if not how do I accomplish this.

P.S. I think one area or problem is that the migration utility is set up for a user sign on and password but I use windows Authentication.

hi rjtaylor,

you may want to checkout this link and download and run the tool for the windows 2000 issues, it may be that you need the correct version of the MDAC...
