Please Help!
Help,
I am having troubles connecting to SQLEXPRESS that is located on the same machine as the Time Tracker Program. I reviewed the previous postings in this forum and went to Server Configuration Manager and then to Protocols for SQLExpress. I enabled Named Pipes and then Restarted SQL SErver.
I got an error message:

"Invalid authorization specification"
"Invalid connection String Attribute"

I went back to Protocols for SQLExpress and enabled TCP/IP and VIA hoping that these changes would make the connection. I got the same error message.

I thought that maybe I did not have the proper Sever Name so I opened SQLExpress in SQLServer Management Studio Express and copied the Server Name and User Name displayed on the "Connect to Server" Dialog box.
I still got that same error message.

I know I am missing something but I do not know what it is.
Please help, I am running out of Ideas!

Frustrated :(

I have the same problem as Robodent.

I got always the same error like "Invalid authorization specification" and also Named Pipes and TCP/IP are enabled.

So, who can help me with these problems.

Please review this Microsoft article. It also has a link that explains how to change authentication modes. http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143705.aspx#

Thearon,
I read the article you suggested and used my windows username and password and still got the same error message. I then changed the server authentication mode and set a password and received the same result. I just cannot figure what I am doing wrong.
Maybe I am using the wrong SQLServer name for the server on my machine? How would I get the correct server name if this is the case?
I also want to say that I enjoy your book immensely and it is just killing me that I cannot get this Migration Utility to work!

Robodent

The server name for SQL Server is your machine name. Of course you can always use (local) as the server name including the parenthesis. Beyond that you'll either have to search the Microsoft news groups to see if someone else has run across the same issue or search google with the error message. I typically find google faster and easier. I'm sorry that I cannot be of further help but I am limited to the information that I see here.
