Default Getting Frustrated...

Hi, I hope you can help me. I posted a message regarding the book "Beginning Visual C++ 6 by Ivor Horton" (it came with a CD that is cracked). Jennifer Taylor (from Wiley Books Support) responded to my message but was unable to help me (They did not receive copies of the CD from Wrox Books). I need a file (sampledata) for chapter 20. If you have the CD, could you send me this file (or ftp the CD)? I am getting very frustrated with this as the book is worthless without the CD. Thanks for any help you might provide.

Hi,

Ivor Horton's Beginning Visual C++ does not come with a CD. Did you buy the book bundled with MS VC++ 6 Learning Editon or something?

Looking at Chapt. 20, p818, the book says sampdata.mdb is on one of the MSDN library CD's--that's a Microsoft product. I think the MSDN Library CD's only come with MS VC++ 6.0 Professional Edition or higher. Anyway, I emailed you the file sampdata.mdb.

I made it to chapter 20 and would like a copy of that file as well. After reading this post here, I googled "sampdata.mdb" and p2p.wrox.com forum threads were the first two hits!

I would also like to learn how to create a database at runtime and distribute a database application. Since the database needs to be registered with Windows I am guessing an .exe alone might not work on some Windows installs? Either way, a pointer of where a beginner can look for this (sites, books, etc) would be appreciated!

Thanks,

David
