I've followed the books instructions and installed SQL Server. Then following Appendix A, I've tried to connect to the database, but I receive an error: Cannot connect to .\SQLSERVER A network related or instance specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL server. The server was not found or was not accessible.
Have I missed an instruction? This book is supposed to be for beginners and for people with no prior knowledge, yet so far I'm finding the instructions not basic enough.
Is anyone able to advise where I have gone wrong? PLLEAASE otherwise I won't be able to continue with this book.
