Default General web based Excel VBA Appl. querry

Hello,
I am a newbie seeking an answer to a problem. I've just purchased the book and reading currently. Excel 2003 VBA seems like the perfect solution to my problem but with one caveat on which I am seeking an answer.

I'd like to have my visitors to my site submit data through a form, run a VBA or ASP script, generate appropriately formatted Excel solution that can then be forwarded to the visitor.

Apparent caveat: I am running an Apache 1.3.31 server on a platform with FreeBSD [UNIX] O/S.
 Is this possible?
And if not, are there any workarounds to make it work?

 Thanks
