Default LNC Addin

I can not get the LNC addin to work. I get an popup error message "Compile error: Cannot find Project or Library". In the VB window, the following text is highlited in yellow: "Public Function ControlCS(ctl As Control, _
strPrefix As String, fTag As Integer) As Integer"

Have I neglected to load some functions that are necessary for this addin to work properly?

Most likely you didn't install the FAR (Find and Replace) add-in, which is used for some functionality. A trial version of FAR is included in the add-in zip file.

You can check this by opening the References dialog from the Tools menu in the Visual Basic window of LNC Rename.mda. If Replace9.mde is marked "MISSING", that is the problem. Close LNC Rename, install FAR, reopen LNC Rename and check the references again (compile to make sure everything is OK). That should fix the problem.

I too get the same popup error message but cannot locate the FAR add-in. I finally found LNCRename.mda in Ch09.zip (why aren't addins placed in a single Add-in download?) but cannot locate FAR anywere. With LNCRename.mda open, I click the Tools menu but do not find a References dialog. Accordingly, I cannot check to see if Replace9.mde is missing. How do I install FAR?

Look for a file named repl9.exe, a self-extracting file which contains: replace9.mde, replace9.hlp and readme.txt.

An alternative is to get Find and Replace 9.0 by downloading the software directly from Rick Fisher's website:

After installing Replace9 as an Add-In, I had to restart Access (v2003) to get it to recognize it. But it worked fine after that.

Thanks,

James

Yeah the LNC rename Add-in will not work until you install the other files included in the ZIP (Chapter 9). Install the FAR (Find and Replace) files (repl9.exe) as suggested and restart Access, The LNC should work. I installed the FAR and other files in the ZIP and the LNC worked after I restarted Access
