Default Bitwise Operations Question

Hello,

On page 59 of the book there is a statement that does not make sense to me. It is a statement for extratcing the y coordinate from a 32-bit variable. It is y=value&0xFF. How does this code work exactly?

I think that should read

y = value & Ox0F
