Red face I recommend against classic theme

I'm pretty sure that once you set it to classic theme, you will just change it back. Classic theme looks foriegn to me and you will notice that it makes you feel like your using (windows 3.1). The theme won't alter how the examples in the book work or look. It might make a difference later when you create windows, but I think if you know enough about how to navigate windows it won't be a problem.
This is just my thought, hope it helps.

Red face I believe he just uses classic them to be common

I think its so he can show figures that will be common to all operating systems. Sorry, I don't know how to change it; I'm still using vista, and haven't upgraded yet. You use your computer for more things than just visual studio, eh?
