Default this proram is outdated

When I try to run debug new programs, either typed in or accessed from the online programs for this book, a window shows up that says

This program is outdated

and compile fails.

As far as I know I am doing all right to get to that point. I have tried several different programs from chapter 1 through 9 .

Take care,

rolan

When I got this I think there was a " don't show this again " tick box that could be checked. I did so and never saw it again. With a free download from Microsoft I was surprised that all I had to do to keep it going was to register my e-mail address with them, which they already had for other programs.

Question

With regard to the book source code downloads I haven't been able to open them either and get messages saying .csproj file type is not supported. When I double clicked in Computer, Dreamweaver ( which I have ) got invoked and said it was read only but it could make it writeable which it did so I now have code which I could perhaps Copy and Paste into Visual C++??

PhilipM,

Regarding book source code downloads:
Try select all and copy of the downloaded code as viewed in the text editor. Then open a new project in the normal way. Enter name and all the steps you normally use to start a new session. Expand your solution in the solution explorer if necessary. Then right click on source files and choose new from the fly out menu. Choose new item and complete the wizard. Once you have been returned to the window you are familiar with from typing in examples (You have been typing in the examples, haven't you?) paste the code into the text editor area. From there you should be able to compile and run the code. You will notice that the tool bar now includes the build tab which was missing when you attempted to compile the downloaded code by double clicking on the file.

If you have not been typing in the example code, try typing one yourself to get familiar with the process.

I hope this is helpful.
