Default Custom Template troubleshooting: loss of interactivity

Custom Template troubleshooting: loss of interactivity.

I have made a super simple custom template, and it is up and running. So far so good.

However, I am beginning to test the interactive aspects of the web site and I am seeing a problem that I hope you can help me with.

When a new user fills in the registration form, the "thank you for your message" or another php message does not appear anywhere on the page. Likewise if you log in with the wrong info, there is no message saying you have made a mistake. The back end is working--meaning users are added to the user manager.

I tested my site with the Bees template and this interactivity works.

So I know, this problem has to do with my custom template.
It seems to me I should look at the Bees template html and compare it to my own....?
Am I on the right track?
or???

Thanks in advance !

Hi Diane -- sorry, I was off at the CMS Expo conference and just got home.

I think you're missing the message tag in your template:

<jdoc:include type="message" />

I generally put this BEFORE the content tag, so that the error or confirmation message shows up at the top of the page.

Let me know if that does not work.

thanks!
Jen
