Hi, this seems really simple but I just can't get my head round p44. I'm trying to implement the environment variable - XML abstraction which makes total sense but being new to SSIS I think I'm missing something a bit fundamental on how this can work.

On p44 it implies I can create the XML in figure 2-4 by "creating an XML configuration that will replace the connection string of a connection manager that points to the..." within BIDS, but how? I can create a Connection Manager but nowhere can I find XML output as a result of this. I don't just want to copy Jessica's XML, I want to understand how I can generate my own.

Help please!

Aha! I've worked it out. I need to create a new configuration - Package Configurations, Add, XML Configuration Type - then navigate to the Connection String property of the SSIS_PDS database...
In terms of logical flow, this would be better coming after the next section which explains how to use the package configurations organizer... Anyway - onward :-)
