Question Error msg on Synchronizing inner matrix groups

After having built tablix described under Synchronizing Groups, Charts and Sparklines (p. 229+), I receive the following error when trying to preview report after completing step #7 (Synchronize inner matrix groups):

System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: The detail grouping 'Sparkline1_CategoryGroup' in the chart 'Sparkline1' has DomainScope 'SalesAnalysisTablix'. Domain scope is only allowed for non detail groups.

Have built recipe carefully; SSRS 2008R2. Everything is okay through step #6, but I miss the whole intent of the exercise by not being able to successfully complete step #7.

Tablix is named SalesAnalysisTablix as instructed, which is exactly what I enter in Group.DomainScope property.

Suggestions? Solution? Thanks!

Hello chornung,

based on the error message you provided, you were missing step 4d.
Make sure that you edit the group expression of the sparkline chart, and set it explicitly as specified in the step as: =Fields!OrderYear.Value & Fields!OrderQtr.Value

Btw, note that you can also download and inspect the final report from this recipe here: http://media.wiley.com/product_ancil...Sparklines.zip

HTH,
Robert
