Don't publish something and take peoples money unless it really works! BTW it is his problem to solve he published it in a book and then offered the code for download from three different locations and all three places have apparently the wrong code all published to the web the wrong code. You are the publisher you should be checking this stuff to see if it really works and should be downloading the code from at least your site, setting it up and checking that it is working.

I spent something like $40.00 on this book. I am done you can remove my comments if you so wish, but I have learned my lesson.

I apologize for sounding rude and belligerent I am very aggravated that I spent so much time on this and every problem seems to be a code replacement from the Author.

I won't delete your comments.
As Nicholas stated, this worked correctly when the book was published. And yes, we had someone check that it worked at the time. Several thousand people have purchased the book, there are a few in the forum having problems with this example. I'm not disputing that the code doesn't work for you, but it does/did really work for a lot of users. Publishing code examples that are going to be installed for 3-5 years by users with unknown configurations is actually pretty hard work. I'm sorry that we didn't live up to your expectations.
We'll have the code updated here, whenever Nicholas or any author lets us know there is updated code, we grab a copy and update here as soon as we can.

At least three people tested this code: Nicholas, the tech editor, and myself. It worked two years ago. It was developed using PHP 4 and MySQL 3.

Thanks for posting this without even asking if the problem was solved.
I just confirmed that replacing the JSON files (for PHP and JavaScript) fixes the issues. As I posted in another thread, my setup is as follows:

PHP 4.4.9 (fresh install)
MySQL 5.1 (fresh install and used OLD_PASSWORD() to work with PHP 4)
IIS 5.1

Any other problems you're having with the application lies within your environment.

I will NOT purchase another book by these people!
I'm sorry to hear that. We strive to provide up-to-date information and code examples. But alas, we cannot please everyone.

Default If you list a skill on your resume you better be able to talk intelligently about it

It makes no difference if you did it five(5) years ago or just yesterday. If you list it then be prepared. If it is out of date and you know that no one on earth uses windows 3.11 then take it off your resume! When asked about the difference between PCI and ISA slots don’t say, “I worked with them three(3) years ago and don’t remember”! Just take responsibility for what you put out there and fix the problem! Don’t come in here with an excuse; just come with a solution! No one cares why something isn’t working just that it has been fixed!

Good luck with your resume!
