I would like to know whether AJAX implementation is possible
without using any server side scripts like servlet, asp, php.

What I require is, I have an xml file and I presented the data from
xml using xslt. Now, I want to use AJAX, to respond dynamically when
I interact with the displayed page.

I have restricted to use only,
1).xml
2).xslt
3).javascript

You can use Ajax to retrieve static files that exist on the server, so the answer is yes, you can use Ajax without any server-side scripting language.

How could that be possible?

Assume that I have a xml file in the server side. I need to read the data from xml without using any servlets.

What I need to specify in my 'url' of the following method, if I need to access an xml file as generally the url will be a servlet!

var url = 'http://localhost:8181/suresh/UserProfileServlet?user=' + selectedUser;

httpRequest.open("GET",url,true);

You can use a URL pointing to a file on the server to download.
