As others have mentioned I'm getting an application has stopped unexpectedly error even doing a cut and paste of the code from the listing.

It's very hard to debug a problem when it simply doesn't load up properly and thros a cryptic error message like this.

The question for me is where a description of this error would be listed as I don't see it in the console or the error log.

this sample seems to work with no problems on my nexusone.
it uses compass and gyro sensors - do you have them on your target device ?
i use the code from the download section in WROX

Hmm I didn't think about that. My phone is an Evo but I was just making it for one of the generic emulators. I'm not sure how to get an Evo emulator but I'd like to have it run in that environment before I try it on my phone.

I'll try to add the compass and gyro sensor functions to the environment and see if that makes a difference.

this also "works" on the emulator with no problems, even though there is not much to see.

I started a new project and changed the package of the View class and it worked fine. Weird but it seems to have had a mixed up pointer on where the resource was.

Back to my original question I don't understand why no tracking of this type of error is available.
