Default Access Default apps in android 2.2 mobile

Hi Experts,

I recently bought the book professional adnroid 2 dev and i am loving it. i have a small question for you guys. How do i access the java code written for default apps that comes with any adnroid phone ( for example "my fiels" widget). can i change the code and redeploy onto my mobile? I am using eclipse IDE for development.

If you got the source code of android platform you can see all the internal app's source code, but you cannot see the third-party app's.
You may need to learn how to get the source code and how to build it. If you're not a programmer, you'll cost too much.

thanks for reply.

I am a java programmmer, so i can understand the code pretty well. I am looking for a tutorial/link where one explains the process for accessing one of default apps. do you know any?
