Default Using Snippets

so, i am a little confused as to how im supposed to use the snippets. am i supposed to add them into the examples, or are they just there 'as' examples? i dont mind typing in all the syntax,it helps me understand alot better, but i just wanna know if its for me to read, look over, and understand, or should i be placing it somewhere within my code?
