i emailed Dave about 'Professional asp.net 2.0', he replied that
there will be a new team of writers for the release of 'Professional asp.net 2.0'. Does this mean that the book will be written fro the scratch. I hope they do so, because if both the books (v.1.x and v.2.0) share more than 50% similarity, it'would not be worth buying.

Yes, it's completely being redone from scratch. Dave, Al, and the old team had other obligations and couldn't write it again.
The new team is a small team headed by Bill Evjen and includes other ASP.NET MVPs as authors. As much as we hate to lose Dave and Al, the new author team and book will be great.
