I followed page 859 and had the following:

But I got the syntax error in VWD.

Can you post the error message?

The only time I have seen an error some something that basic is if I originally created the user control as a VB control, then changed the language attribute to C#. If thats the case VS wants you to close and reopen the file so it can load up the correct intellisense for the files laugnage choice.
