I have installed DNN using the instructions in Chapter 1. However, when I tested the installation using the URL:

     http://localhost/DotNetNuke

I got "HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden", a.k.a "You are not authorized to view this page". I gave the aspnet account full control, and I verified that permissions applied to all files subfolders and subfiles.

Can you tell me how to diagnose the problem and fix it? Thanks much for your help!

This is telling you that IIS is not configured to display .aspx files. Open up your IIS manager and add default.aspx as the first document type
