Where is JDBC 4.0? My JSE 6.0 does not contain the new JDBC 4.0. For instance, java.sql does not contain BaseQuery, DataSet, or Select.

Unfortunately, the expert group dropped the "Ease of Development" chapter of the JDBC 4.0 spec in November 2006 right before the spec went final and was added into JDK 6. The things you mention were deferred until the next release of JDBC.

Sadly, to work a print book requires making some decisions about the direction of the specs, etc. We simply felt this functionality was too important to developers to hold out of the book on the basis that it MIGHT get dropped. We are stunned and disappointed at the decision.

And it's not just the book. There are several articles one can find with Google about JDBC 4.0. Oh, well. Maybe next time.
