Default Virtualized Application

Hi all,

I'm pretty new to SSRS and a lot of the technologies that are being presented. When I first purchased this title I thought I could easily install SharePoint and SQL Server together on a Windows 7 machine. I've found out the hard way that the setup of these technologies won't work too well unless you have Windows Server 2008. I wish the authors made a VMWare image of the development environment available for use instead of relying on a users knowledge base to get a lot of these things correctly configured at installation.

I read the "Who This Book is For" section at the beginning part of the book. Is it reasonable to expect a report designer or business executive to know how to configure, download, and install Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2012, SharePoint and VMware player just to get the basic working system to accommodate this book? No. Probably not.

Default Moving Forward

I found this to be a good resource, though the downloads are a bit dated. http://xtrmdevtips.blogspot.com/2012...010-mssql.html
