Default CDC

Hi All,

I am a data warehouse developer.
I need to design and conduct an "INCREMENTAL LOAD" for my SQLSERVER 2005 source database.

I came to know that there is an inbuilt mechanism "CDC(CHANGE DATA CAPTURE)" is available in SQLSERVER 2008.
Is that same kind of mechanism is enabled is SQLSERVER 2005,
Else what would be the best approach to deal with capturing the changed data.

Hi Vijayig,

   Unfortunately CDC does not work with SQL Server 2005. There are several methods you can use to identify changed rows in a SQL Server 2005 source. They include:

 - Checksums
 - Last Modified Date managed by triggers
 - Change Type tables / columns managed with triggers

Any possible way or criteria
that i can choose one of the
Process from those 3 methods.

Hi Andy,

To give you more clarity about my requirement,
Mine is a SQLSERVER 2005 source database,
I want to build an ODS out of it to show the Present data,
And a staging database to hold the historical data.

If you would provide me a most suitable method
And relevent
Sample example or
Sample process Or
Sample Methodology or
Sample project that would be greatful.
