Default Sub Report Issue

I have created a table report with a sub report on one of the detail rows. The problem is when I run the report all data is displayed but the report fields to the right of the sub report all move over to the end of the sub report data. The sub report is below the rest of the report fields. I expect the other fields to be displayed over the sub report but it is not displaying like that. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
