It seems that either identica no longer supports XMPP, or they've hidden the configuration so well that I'm lost. ("IM is not available" is not encouraging here: http://identi.ca/settings/im). Certainly the UI described in the book (connect link in the top right) is no longer current. Any way to make the ch05 application work in light of this?

It is currently offline, yes. They have told me it should be back in the future, but I have no timeline yet.

For now you'll have to skip the implementation details for Chapter 5.
