Default RTS example...

Hi Ben,
I know you are probably very very busy, but I was wondering if there is any chance of putting together a very simple RTS example, showing isometric tiling and possibly multi-selecting a couple of units in 2D.

Would I be correct in saying that a 3D isometric RTS is slightly easier in this respect as the isometric view is governed by placement of the camera, so tiling order is less important?

If an example is too much hassle, maybe a post on your blog about the techniques and ideas you are using in Arena Wars would be easier.

Anyway just a thought.

Hi Savagesoft,

yeah, I would like to do a RTS sample game, but I have not enough time right now. You can come back to the current game project I'm doing in 1-2 months and ask more questions there (www.ArenaWars.net) if you like more information about RTS games. There I would be happy to discuss techniques important for RTS games and hopefully I got more time then for discussions like this ^^

BTW: My initial idea was to build an RTS starter kit for XNA, but a racing game made more sense for the Xbox 360 and an RTS starter kit would probably have been a lot more work, so I'm glad it "just" was a Racing Game :)

Thanks for the response. I'll check out the Arena Wars site a couple of months.
