Default doubt regarding VB APP to sms thru ir modem

hi all,
Currently Iam Creating an app in Visual basic which communicates with my mobile, connected thru IR using mscomm control.
Actually my at commands work well in hyperterminal and
when i try try the same in Visual basic code it returns error code
error No: 8020 error reading comm device

can anybody sort out this problem,

Adding: I have the same problem but using comm port to communicate between one computer to another, via wireless connection (access point). My case doesnt involve cell phones.
