I have a simple file, named refreshpromos.asp, (which makes a certain global variable emty).
(<%Application("PROMO_XML") = Empty%>)

i want this script to run from a aspx.file when i push a "publish button".
how do i do that ?

No, you can't. And you really shouldn't. Are you planning on sharing this global variable between an ASP application and an ASP.NET application? They operate in different processes and don't share information. I think you might be best to simply issue a response redirect from the button click handler that sends you to an separate .asp page, then have that page do what you need, then redirect you back (if necessary).

ASP.NET and ASP don't share Session or Application variables, nor can they read scripted variables from each other. Should there be no other way, you would probably want to update the ASP code to ASP.NET anyway.

You can use HttpWebResponse in your code behind to call refreshpromos.asp. NOTE: This file will be resolved before the aspx.
