EPSON POS - customer display unit

I am a program developer and need information on two things concerning the EPSON DP-110-101 customer display unit (model M167A).

Firstly, how do I remove the cursor?

Secondly, how do I clear the screen without using the carriage return?

Anyone have any suggestions? - The developers manual doesn't explain.
