i need to create a script that will check against the closing date of event from a database and send reminders to members automatically.

Any idea how can tis be accomplished, solution with coding samples will be greatly appreciated.

You can use a scheduled task to check the database regularly, then use CDONTS.NewMail object to create a mail message and send it.
