If you're still a noob, I suggest you do some Googling for this.

If you search Google for "ADO.NET AND tutorial", I am sure you'll find lots of useful examples. Also, check out the QuickStart tutorials. They come with the .NET SDK, but you can also read them online: http://samples.gotdotnet.com/quickstart/

Cheers,

So C# is just an alternative to Javascript for asp.net right? I don't have to use C# to do cool stuff in asp.net right? It's only for scripting purpose right? So C# for asp.net is like Javascript for PHP right? I'm so n00b, asking so many n00b question, can C# replace Javascript in terms of DHTML effect? Like... can C# make web effects like DHTML without using DHTML? ^_^;

No, it's not. C# is an entirely different language than JavaScript and it's not meant as a replacement for (client side) JavaScript. JavaScript runs at the client, whereas C# in an ASP.NET scenario runs at the server.
To some extent it may be replacing server side JavaScript in ASP pages, but since ASP.NET is much more powerful than "classic" ASP, the comparison is not really fair.

Again, for this subject I would Google a bit. You'll need to read quite a lot to understand the basics of .NET in general, C#, VB.NET ASP.NET and ADO.NET. It's quite difficult (and time-consuming) to explain something like this over a forum.

I also suggest the following site: http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/
It's Microsoft's .NET Framework starting page and contains a lot of useful information and links to other interesting resources.

Cheers,

I know Javascript is clientside, I already know the basic of what .NET is, I was reading books like C# for the absolute beginners and stuff like that, .NET use JIT compiler during runtime, I know all the basics and concept, it's the syntax I don't know ^_^; that's the reason I asked if C# can do special DHTML effects without Javascript, because that way it would make it hard for people to copy you since it's serverside stuff ^_^;

And how, exactly, would you use a server side language for client side effects???

Although you can use C# to generate fancy DHTML, you'll still have to submit it to the client where it runs as ordinary and plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, don't you think??

If you're code is all server-based, then people will rip off microsoft's client-side generated code instead of your client-side code....
