Default Horrible error - 'server has reached max recovery'

Help!

I've been doing some work on the company's intranet, and I keep getting this error message when attempting to access ASP pages:

'The Server has reached the maximum recovery limit for the application during the processing of your request. Please contact the server administrator for assistance.'

The strange thing is, the pages will work for a while, before suddenly encountering this error. We then have to reset the server to get the pages to work again, but then a few days later it happens all over again.

Does anyone know what could be cauding this, or how I can go about finding the cause?

Cheers

SoC

Normally such errors happen when either

1) number of concurrent connections

or

2) bandwidth

is limited by IIS.

If server is in your control, you may try this.

Open IIS configuration tool.
Right-click default web site.
Choose properties.
Open performance tab.
You can see appropriate checkboxes and values there. You can change them.

Please take care if it is a production server. Any change in these values will have drastic performance problems for all the websites hosted on the server.

It is better to leave them at unlimited values.

Thanks, madhukp.

I've noticed another curious thing with this error.

We have a simple search form on the home page, which periodically suffers from the error I described above. If I enter a search term, click enter and recieve the error message, and then go File > New Window, the new page will work, returning a number of hits for my search term.

Weird!

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks
SoC

Well, I would like to know whether the following things.

1) Are you getting this error

The Remote Procedure Call Failed and Did Not Execute

at any time ?

2) Are you using IIS 4.0 ?

3) Is the application configured as an "Out of process application".

4) Is there any possibility of getting the web log from administrator ?
