Default response.Write strange occurence

Why is it when I comment out this line then some of my code doesnt work?

response.Write select * from dbo_tp_airline where AirlineCode = '"&airline_code&"'"

well if you comment out that line, where will the data come from that your other code uses?

its just a response.write. the mysql hit has already been done:
