i have a asp page that submits to itself when a submit button is pressed:

<input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Submit" onmouseover="style.cursor='hand'" onClick="show_contract_id='no'">

is there a way i can send a variable value to the page so that when it is reloaded and shown again i can only show item as per the variable's value?

i.e if show_contract_id='no'then dont show contract
    if show_contract_id='yes'then show contract

do you mean reloaded (I think of refreshed when you say reloaded) or do you mean when the form is submitted?

If the later you can use:
1..form variables - on submit pass a value into a hidden form variable

2..queryStrings - append to the action part of the <form> tag
