Default ASP error

Hi there

A newcomer to ASP here and I've got a problem with ASP writing to a database. Whilst it works fine on http://mypcname/file.asp, I get this error when the pages are accessed via an external server.
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e09'

Cannot update. Database or object is read-only.

/new/$$admin$$/includes/data.inc.asp, line 302

Any help would be much appreciated

OKay i know this erro, in usual it's an erro of database.this may be your attach file is not attached because of it's readonly file. so please check deattach it and take it to be not readonly then u can attach again.
if this solution does not work, it can be there's an erro in your dbconnect.inc. So check it correctly,(specialy the driver to your database : name ; server and provider (it in SQLserver help and u can using help in SQLsever or VBScript totourial to see how it is connected )).Please check correctly. Good luck

It sounds to me like there is a security problem. I don’t really follow the rationale regarding "trusted" resources and so on (I’m sure I’ll have to look into it sooner or later, but I prefer later!).

I believe that you are likely to find a PRB at Microsoft that address how to overcome this.

Clearly the problem is not that your database is read only, because it works when you access the resource(s) from the console. The only difference between success and failure is the location of the origin of the action, and that says “security issues” to me.

i don't think it's security problems. in usual you work in local for begin application and simple applications so security doesn't effect to your app,but if you work through network (Lan or Want or Internet) please sure you have full permission to access database and that database is not Readonly ,it may run correctly .if it can't run you should come to http://www.MSDN.microsoft.com to get solution for this Erro. Good luck.
