Default Connecting to Localhost as web server in Interdev

Hello everyone..
I am extreemly sick at the mo.... I am trying to create a new web project using Visual interdev...
First it asks you what the name is etc... but then it asks "What server do you want to use?" - I want to use my local host...

I dont have a static Ip so have tried:
Localhost
The actual name I gave the computer
and the protocol address ***.*.*.*...... I have reinstalled IIS also, but with no avail, everything I try it just states "Unable to contact web server" ?????

Please someone help me out i have searched for days now on the net for similar articles and there has been others with the same problem but everyone states .. localhost should work...

Are there some permissions I am missing somewhere or something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers! kathryne

Hi Kathryne,

Did you install the Microsoft FrontPage Server extensions on your computer? AFAIK, Interdev requires this to communicate with the server.

You may want to check out the following links:

What platform / OS is your server (local machine) running?

And does your computer have a network card? Did you try 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost?

I am presently running Windows Server 2003. I had this problem. I went to IIS and right clicked on Default Web Sites and then I selected All Tasks. I then clicked on Configure Server Extension.Once the Server Extensions were configured. I then went back to Interdev and everything worked fine from that point on. Apparently because SharePoint is a part of Windows Server 2003. The Extensions need to be configured properly. But I am working OK now.

Hi there,

I have the same problem as yours.
"Unable to contact web server http://surajshrestha"
shows up every time while i try to setup a web project
in microsoft interdev.
Currently, I am using Windows XP.
I have also tried putting localhost, ip address in the name of server.
But also it did not work.

But while i type http://surajshrestha in internet explorer it works.

can anybody help me out.
