My Objective - to unregister an existing .dll, delete it, copy an updated .dll of the same name and register it on a production server (Win 2000 version 5.0 SP4). I do have full admin rights using DameWare however have to go through a painful process to get permission to get this done either of the following two ways:
1. Stop the www service and get it done. This has been known not to work, whay is this?
2. Re-boot the box and get it done. The sure fire way to achieve my objective.
Frankly these are the only two ways I know. Is there another option?
I just dont want to play around in IIS without knowing it will work. I would prefer not to stop the 'Default Web Site' - would this work? Would it release the registered .dll?
Can I stop (or the equivelent) a web site within the Default Site. Please note. Two web sites within the default web site use the .dll it is a graphing object.
Any help would be great, ideas????
Please note - I dont need help with how to register and or unregister library file syntax - TYIA
