First of all, I do have 'wwwroot', 'private' and a 'secure' folder on my user area on my ISP's server.
I've used asp to login members of an organisation, so to give them access to certain private .asp pages. I've placed the private asp files in turn in the 'private' and 'secure' folders, and established a link to it from the page displayed after the login. I couldn't access the asp files this way, however, there weren't any problem when I placed/linked to the files from anywhere in the wwwroot folder.

Any ideas please

I'd suggest that you speak to your ISP, this sounds like it is a config issue on the IIS server as the directories may not have been configured to run ASP scripts only HTML pages.
