Imar

Indeeeeed <> useless

Since I have already butted in with an unrelated post, another cant hurt;

Q: The sql = "SHOW FIELDS......" syntax allows me to get all field names from a table without having to write ALL thier physical names.

I guess I'm looking at being a bit lazy. In a table that has 80 fields, If I want 75 of them - how can I exclude five instead of listing 75?

I have been trying conditional variations to the sql = "SHOW FIELDS......" type of query without success, am I wasting my time?

Is this for MySQL??

To be honest, I have no idea. It looks like Show Fields is used to show *all* fields, but I am not sure.

Can't you just select them all and ignore a few?

Otherwise, try the MySQL forum....

Cheers,

Imar

Yes for mySql - I was told to learn PHP a couple of months ago(to get the salary increase I was looking for). Hesitant at first, however things are comming along nicely now - wow! php has a huge amount of functions.

 Yes I will, perhaps I was being a bit lazy. I have posted it in a couple of mySql/sql forums.

Time to shut down for me, CU
