For the sake of a complete archive (and for my own curiosity), would you mind telling us how you fixed it??

Cheers,

sure,

i simply took out the % signs out of my query. So it became

1. strSQL1 = "select * from EMPLOYEE where Emp_No like '" & Request("employeeID") & "'"

What I had was

2. strSQL1 = "select * from EMPLOYEE where Emp_No like '%" & Request("employeeID") & "%'"

although when I tried the SQL queries in Access the outputs were the same (no records found)

however when I input the 2 codes in the browser they displayed different results.

For 1.

I get success=false

For 2.

I get success=true&results=Man+Dog%0D%0A

And everything apart from the % signs in the SQL query is the same in both the codes.

Mysterious bt hey I found where the problem was!
