Default bulletin board

Hi,

I'm in the process of creating a bulletin board for a community site. It needs to be hightly scalable as well as customizable to blend in with the rest of the site.
Anyone has any suggestions, out of all the existing software out there whats the best to use?
there is no specific platform restrictions at the stage, it can be asp, php or anything..

Also, anyone every created one from scratch? How complex is it? worth the while?

Thanks

Hello,

I would always recommend ASP.NET for your site, which would require windows environment that has the .NET framework installed. Never created one from scratch, although I've seen examples of this on the web before.
