Default System to order rows a table DB

Tengo una BD de datos que se ordena de Forma desc por un campo de la base de datos. Necesito algún sistema para que el cliente tenga posibilidad de ordenar de la forma que el desee y que el articulo que aparace en la posicion (9) por ejem. pase a la pos(1)

Alguien me puede ayudar
